unit 6: assignment 4

I feel that the Commandments are still talked about today, but not so much followed. It is very hard to keep to each law because of the way the world has changed. Not working on the Sabbath Day is almost impossible. We all have such busy lives that missing a day of work to just rest is out of the question. There are also a larger number of divorces, which means many people aren't following the 9th and 6th commandments. Our generation also tends to swear a lot using the Lord's name. It has become a habit in our language, but is still harmful to God. There are still wars going on, so murdering is still taking place. However there are less death sentences as punishments. I think that people today really break the last commandment. We are all envious of our friends possessions, especially with all the cool products on the market. Some of us know that material possessions won't make a person happy, but a lot of other people don't. Overall, I think more laws are being broken today then a hundred years ago, but I also think the circumstances have a lot to do with it.

I think the 3rd commandment is allowed to be broken the most. With every one's busy lifestyle, sitting around for a day doing nothing seems like a waste of time. Especially if you are missing a sports game or helping out at a community event. But other than that, the rest of the laws are very specific on how they want you to follow them. Although it's hard, it's for God, and serving him is the greatest act we will ever do.
